Ex-GOP Candidate: Primary Is The Way To Go (AUDIO)
Listen to David Matthau's report on current 3rd District GOP
candidate Jon Runyan
What do you get when you take three Republicans all vying for the same Congressional seat? A primary election of course!
That was something County GOP chairs in Ocean, Burlington and Camden were trying to avoid due to the expense and time needed for the campaign. They've felt all along that their efforts are better concentrated at getting someone in and focusing on the actual race against Democrat John Adler.
The counties threw their support behind former Philadelphia Eagle Jon Runyan to run. However, a former primary candidate for the same seat says not so fast. Justin Murphy ran back in 2008 in the primary and did relatively well. He says he knows the issues and is the best man for the job. "It's healthcare. It's taxes. It's the economy. We can't just sit still while things continue to spiral out of control."
In addition to Murphy, Toms River businessman Joe Rullo isn't backing down either. Murphy plans to open his headquarters in the coming weeks.
