Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Seeks Grand Marshal Nominations

Organizers of Ocean County's Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival are once again looking for a parade Grand Marshal.

Event Chairman Michael Blandina says the Grand Marshal is not only the ceremonial leader of the weekend but the face of events leading up to the 19th annual celebration.

Blandina says, "well as we have in the past, we're looking for a community oriented individual who is of good moral character and is very giving of the community."

Blandina says nominations should be sent with a cover letter and a biography to the Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee, c/o Michael A. Blandina, 249 Hawaii Drive, Brick Township, N.J. 08723.

The Grand Marshal selection will be announced the first week in April and they'll be honored at the Annual Dinner Dance, on June 24th. Blandina says the person selected doesn't have to be an Ocean County resident.

This year's Parade and Italian Festival is scheduled for October 8th through October 10th in Seaside Heights.

The Grand Marshal nomination deadline is march 26th.

They're also looking for anyone interested in becoming involved with the 2010 Ocean County Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival Committee.    For more information call 732-477-6507.
