Cooling Tower Supporters Make Case To State Board
|
A widespread coalition of ecology and fishing interests press their case to state environmental leaders to turn cooling towers at Oyster Creek from a suggestion to a requirement.
They packed a public hearing about the matter in Trenton wednesday. Environment New Jersey Director Dena Joborska says the environmental damage is eating into the four-billion-dollars of annual revenue that can be traced to the bay.
Joborska calls Exelon's threat to shutter the plant an empty one in light of a 20-year license renewal and contends that the cost of a self-contained reactor cooling system is well within its reach.
