Here are some common problems...

QUESTION: I use Internet Explorer and when I launch the player, I see "Connection in progress, backup connection in progress" but it never actually connects.

The problem could lie in the Internet Explorer configurations. There are a few steps to rectify the situation.

First please make sure that you have the latest version of Internet Explorer, you can find it here.

Secondly, open Internet Explorer click on "Tools" and select "Internet Options" in the drop down menu. A window will open, select the "Advanced" tab. At the bottom you will see "Reset Internet Explorer Settings", click on "Reset...". Be aware that by doing this all your cookies, temporary files and add-ons will be deleted and/or disabled. Close Internet Explorer.

Reopen Internet Explorer, you should be redirected to a welcome page. Do NOT turn on automatic Phishing Filter, this is critical, if you do turn it on you need to go back to step 1. Please note that you can be asked if you want to turn on the automatic Phishing Filter at any time during your browsing experience, do NOT turn it on.

Make sure that you have the latest version of Flash Player, you can get it here
Last, try to listen to the station you were trying to listen to and let us know if your problem is fixed.

QUESTION: I can’t access the stream, all my configurations are up to date including my browser my Flash Player. I can’t connect at all.

Are you listening from home or from the office?

If it’s from the office: You should ask your network administrator if they have blocked the stream URL in the firewall office.

If it’s from home: Are you using any kind of firewall, antivirus or parental control? If yes, try to disabled it and try again, to make sure that it’s not one of theses software that creates the problem. If you can listen to the stream after you have turn it off, that means that you have to change your settings in order to be able to listen to the stream.

MOBILE STREAMING:

QUESTION: How do I listen?

To begin listening to 92.7 WOBM on your iPhone or iPod Touch, open your Safari browser and enter the URL: listen.wobm.com. Your device should walk you through the steps to successfully begin listening.

You'll need to know your data connection speed. This information is posted in the connection status bar in the top left corner of your iPhone, iPod or iTouch. Go to "Listen Live!" and simply press the corresponding button.

For the best listening experience, take the Speed Test. It will determine the current speed and quality of your data connection and give you a recommendation for the most reliable live radio connection.

QUESTION: What do I do next?

By pressing the Home button, you can listen to New Jersey 101.5 and do other tasks with your iPhone/iPod. You can read, write and send emails and text messages or view Google Maps™. You can even use any iPhone application installed.

QUESTION: How good is my data connection?

Unfortunately, the iPhone doesn't accurately show the strength of your data connection, just the type of data connection (EDGE or 3G).

The strength indicator, located at the top left corner of your iPhone, shows the strength of the iPhone's "voice" connection. Areas that have weak voice connections will generally also have poor data connections. The Speed Test will attempt to give you an idea of how fast your data speed is and the strength of your actual data connection.

QUESTION: How do I turn off the radio when I get a phone call?

The moment your phone receives a call (or you watch a video, play a game or do anything else that uses the iPhone/iPod speaker), the radio will pause and automatically begin recording so you can listen to it later.
The radio has its own built-in recording feature, similar to a video DVR like TiVo™, so you don't have to miss your favorite song, interview or newscast if you get a phone call. To continue listening from the point when your phone rang, simply click on the Safari icon and press Play.

QUESTION: Is this information being recorded on my iPhone/iPod?

No. The radio does not use memory from or store information on your iPhone/iPod. Any recording is saved to the servers that provide the live radio, which frees up valuable memory and storage for your other mobile activities.

QUESTION: How do I get back to "real-time" radio?

To stop the recording and listen to live radio, press the Done button and start your radio again.
(Hint: Sometimes you might have to wait 2-3 seconds as our server deletes your recording and jumps you to live radio).

QUESTION: Can I skip forward from where I paused the radio?

No, not at this time.

QUESTION: Why does the station sometimes stop when I'm using other applications on my phone?

Since most iPhone (native or installed) applications use the same "pipe" as the live radio stream to transmit and receive data, the radio respects your use of other applications and gives them priority for the data connection.

With a weak data connection, the radio might pause in the background as these other applications run. Simply click on Safari and hit Play again to start from the point when the pause occurred.

QUESTION: Is it typical for the radio to play a few seconds and then stop?
When you start live radio, your iPhone may automatically disconnect and connect again as it looks for a better data transfer connection.

If this happens before we have buffered/recorded enough music for your radio, the radio might stop. Simply hit Play again to start the radio. If the disconnect and connect process occurs after the radio has played for a few seconds, our system will automatically "reconnect" you.

QUESTION: Why is the station delayed compared to my car radio?

Your mobile radio experience is similar to Internet radio. Before it can be “transmitted” over the Internet, radio audio must be converted into a different format. This conversion process (as well as other activities) creates a slight delay compared to audio from the same station heard on a car or home radio device.

The benefit of listening to radio on the Internet or mobile device is that it can reach way beyond regularly transmitted radio signals. This means you can listen to your favorite stations on your mobile device from across the country, something you cannot do with a traditional car or home radio device.
