Utility crews all around the state continue to work to restore power to thousands of people who've been in the dark since Saturday. JCP+L reports it could be tomorrow or Wednesday before full service is restored. At one point Saturday evening, close to 50,000 homes in Ocean and Monmouth were out.
And hundreds of others were being evacuated from their homes as swollen rivers flooded numerous neighborhoods, especially in northern areas of New Jersey. And more rain was expected during the day, though not nearly as much as the 2 to 5 inches that fell Saturday.
The storm, which contained winds gusting as strong as 70 mph, knocked down trees and power lines across the state and was blamed for two deaths in Teaneck and a New Jersey woman in Westport, Conn.
Police identified her as 39-year-old Jennifer Thibault of Long Valley, N.J.
