New Study Says There Is More Wind Available For Power Generation
|
Those who study the use of wind power to generate electricity says there's more wind in states like ours than previously thought to produce cheap, clean power.
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory says because there's more wind a higher elevations, that's good news for the newest generation of wind turbines, which are taller and have wider generating blades. Rick Dovey is Director of the Atlantic County Utilities Authority. He says they are measuring wind, and this new information is measured at a higher height and a wider breadth.
The authority has leased land to a company operating five wind turbines. And in tiny Ocean Gate Borough, Mayor Paul Kennedy says a new wind turbine installed to produce juice for the township municipal building is saving them about 14-hundred dollars a month.
